Welcome to Lonsdale Fell Runners
Lonsdale Fell Runners are a fell running club based in Lancaster with a catchment area around Morecambe Bay. Lonsdale Fell Runners are a growing group of diverese runners. Members have varying abilities but we do ask that you have some fell experience before your first club run. One of our members, Rowan Wood, can help you provide the necessary experience, if you doubt your abilities.
Please note: we do not currently have a juniors team or sessions.
Lonsdale Fell Runners meet every Wednesday for a communal run and (optional) regroup afterwards for a drink (see Next Club Run for details). Members are often from the Lancaster, Morecambe, and Lune valley areas, but hey, who cares if you want to run with us it doesn’t matter where you live. We are now into our Summer series of runs.
Smaller ad hoc groups meet up for weekend runs or races so you need never be short of company. We cater for all aspects of fell running, racing, orienteering, 2 day eventing, Bob Graham attempts, or just run for the fun and social events. We are very informal and often the members share compatible sports such as skiing, climbing, mountain biking etc.
Our weekly runs are between one and two hours and change every week (see next run) we visit some of the best routes in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Bowland, Howgill fells etc, all the routes have been well scouted, and we run as a group. During the Winter months we don head torches and stumble around Farleton Knott and brave the wind and cold and snow and mud, but it’s still fun!
We have runners of all ages and abilities, juniors (with a parent or guardian), and a few pensioners. We modify the runs each week to try and ensure every one runs at the pace and distance they want but still aim to all meet up at the end.
Week end runs occur on an ad hoc basis, and social events, often combined with running or camping, are very popular.
